Quick answer: we list rubber washers up to 1/2" thick and up to 4" outside diameter. Thick sizes come in 3/16", 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2", with about 250 OD x ID combinations at each thickness. Large sizes run from 2" to 4" OD with holes from 1/8" up to 1-1/2". Every size is listed in seven materials. Choose thick when you need to fill a gap or cushion a part, and large when the washer has to cover a wide face or fit over a big bolt or fitting. The tables below cover every thick and large size we list, plus the ones in stock today.
"Thick" and "large" are relative, so it helps to know where they sit in the range. Our catalogue runs from 1/32" to 1/2" thick and from 3/16" to 4" OD, 1,746 sizes in all. This guide covers the top end of both.
When a thick rubber washer is the right choice
- Taking up a gap. A thicker washer fills more space between two parts, and it compresses into uneven or rough surfaces that a thin washer can't reach.
- Cushioning and isolating. More rubber between a part and its mount gives more give, which helps with rattles, buzzing and contact noise.
- Spacing. A 1/4" or 3/8" washer can set a fixed offset between parts.
- When thin is better: two flat, smooth faces usually seal well with a 1/16" to 1/8" washer. A thicker washer squeezes out further sideways when tightened, so don't go thick just to be safe.
Stacking two thin washers to make a thick one works for spacing, but for sealing a single washer is better, because every extra layer adds another surface that can leak.

| 3/16" | 0.188" / 4.8 mm | 247 | 5/16" to 4" | 3/16" thick washers |
| 1/4" | 0.250" / 6.4 mm | 247 | 5/16" to 4" | 1/4" thick washers |
| 3/8" | 0.375" / 9.5 mm | 247 | 5/16" to 4" | 3/8" thick washers |
| 1/2" | 0.500" / 12.7 mm | 247 | 5/16" to 4" | 1/2" thick washers |
A handful of 1/32" sizes are also listed for very thin shimming. Thickness is the dimension people most often guess wrong. Measure the old washer on its edge with calipers, or stack a few and divide, as shown in how to measure a rubber washer. Remember that a used washer will be thinner than it was when new.
Large rubber washers: 2" to 4" OD
A large OD covers more surface around a bolt or opening. That matters on soft or thin materials, on wide flanges, and where the washer has to cover an oversized or damaged hole. Every large OD comes with a choice of holes up to 1-1/2" ID and in all seven thicknesses from 1/16" to 1/2".
| OD | Metric | Sizes listed | ID (hole) range | Shop |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2" | 50.8 mm | 98 | 1/8" to 1-1/2" | 2" OD washers |
| 2-1/4" | 57.2 mm | 100 | 1/8" to 1-1/2" | 2-1/4" OD washers |
| 2-1/2" | 63.5 mm | 99 | 1/8" to 1-1/2" | 2-1/2" OD washers |
| 2-3/4" | 69.9 mm | 98 | 1/8" to 1-1/2" | 2-3/4" OD washers |
| 3" | 76.2 mm | 99 | 1/8" to 1-1/2" | 3" OD washers |
| 3-1/2" | 88.9 mm | 98 | 1/8" to 1-1/2" | 3-1/2" OD washers |
| 4" | 101.6 mm | 98 | 1/8" to 1-1/2" | 4" OD washers |
Looking for a "3 inch rubber washer" or a "4 inch rubber washer"? Those numbers almost always refer to the outside diameter, so start with the 3" and 4" OD collections, then pick the hole and thickness. If you mean a 3" hole, that is larger than anything we list, so see custom rubber washers.
Thick and large sizes in stock now (October 2026)

Choosing the hole size
Match the ID to the bolt, stud or fitting the washer slips over: a 1/2" bolt takes a 1/2" ID, a 3/4" stud a 3/4" ID, and so on. A snug ID keeps the washer centred. Our rubber washer size chart lists every combination, and the size finder narrows the catalogue by OD, ID and thickness in a few taps. For metric bolts, see metric rubber washers.
Choosing the material
| Material | Usual choice for |
|---|---|
| Neoprene | All-purpose use; resists weather and oil |
| EPDM | Outdoors, with UV, ozone and water |
| Nitrile | Oil, fuel and grease |
| Silicone | Heat and food-contact applications |
| Viton | Harsh chemicals and high heat |
| Natural rubber | Elasticity and vibration absorption |
| Fiber | A rigid, insulating gasket material |

FAQ
What is the thickest rubber washer you sell?
1/2". It is listed in about 250 OD x ID combinations, from 5/16" up to 4" OD.
What is the largest rubber washer you list?
4" outside diameter, with holes from 1/8" up to 1-1/2". For anything bigger, send us your specification.
Do you sell solid rubber discs with no hole?
We list one solid disc, 17/32" diameter x 3/32" thick. For larger solid discs, ask us about a custom size.
Is a thicker washer always better for sealing?
No. Flat, smooth faces usually seal well with a 1/16" to 1/8" washer. Thick washers suit gaps, uneven surfaces and cushioning.
Can I stack two washers instead of buying a thick one?
For spacing, yes. For sealing, use a single washer of the right thickness, because each extra layer is another place a leak can start.
Do you offer bulk pricing on large sizes?
Bulk pricing applies automatically from 50 units across any mix of sizes. See buying rubber washers in bulk.
