Quick answer: "3/4 rubber washer" is used for three different parts. A washer with a 3/4" hole fits a 3/4" bolt or rod; we list 105 of them. A washer that is 3/4" across the outside is a small part for screws from about #8 to 9/16"; we list 56. And a washer for 3/4" garden hose or 3/4" pipe is sized to the fitting or the pipe's real outside diameter, which isn't 3/4". Work out which one you have, then use the tables below.
Which "3/4 inch" do you mean?
| You have | What to measure | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| A 3/4" bolt, stud or rod | The bolt is 3/4" (0.750") across | 3/4" ID washers |
| An old washer that measures 3/4" across | Its hole and thickness | 3/4" OD washers |
| A garden hose or washing-machine hose | The old washer in the coupling | hose washers |
| 3/4" copper tube or PEX (washer slips over it) | Tube OD: 0.875" (7/8") | 7/8" ID washers |
| 3/4" steel or PVC pipe (washer slips over it) | Pipe OD: 1.050" | 1-1/16" ID, e.g. our 2-1/4" OD x 1-1/16" ID x 1/16" |
Copper tube outside diameters come from ASTM B88, and steel pipe from ASME B36.10M (PVC pipe uses the same ODs). Nominal pipe and tube sizes are names, not measurements, which is why a "3/4 inch" pipe is more than an inch across.
Garden hose washers are not 3/4" washers
US garden hoses use a 3/4" garden hose thread, so it's natural to search for a 3/4" washer. But the washer inside the female coupling is sized to fit that coupling, and it is larger than 3/4" across. Don't buy by the thread name. Pull out the old washer, measure its OD, ID and thickness, and match all three, or start with our garden hose and washing-machine hose washers. The guide to rubber washers for garden hoses walks through it.

The full rubber washer size chart lists every OD, ID and thickness in inch and mm. If your measurement lands between two sizes, the neighbouring holes are 5/8" and 7/8": choose the smaller hole when the washer must seal tightly around the shank, and the larger one when it only needs to slide on as a spacer or cushion. Rubber stretches a little, so a hole a fraction under the bolt size still goes on; a hole that is too large leaves a gap that can leak.
For a 3/4" bolt, a 1-1/2" to 2" OD is a common, balanced choice. Larger ODs spread the load on soft material or cover big or slotted holes.
Every 3/4" OD size we list
Small washers that are 3/4" across. Holes from 1/8" to 9/16", each in 7 thicknesses (1/16" to 1/2") and seven materials. A 3/4" OD with a 1/4" hole is a popular size for 1/4" screws on panels, enclosures and gutters.
| Hole (ID) | Typical fastener |
|---|---|
| 1/8" | Small screws and pins |
| 3/16" | #8 to #10 screws |
| 1/4" | 1/4" bolts and #14 screws |
| 5/16" | 5/16" bolts, M8 |
| 3/8" | 3/8" bolts |
| 7/16" | 7/16" bolts, M10 (easy fit) |
| 1/2" | 1/2" bolts, M12 |
| 9/16" | 9/16" bolts, M14 |
Material choice
| Material | Usual choice for |
|---|---|
| Neoprene | All-purpose sealing and cushioning, indoors and out |
| EPDM | Water, steam, sunlight and ozone; not petroleum oils |
| Nitrile | Oil, fuel and grease |
| Silicone | High and low temperatures, food-contact equipment |
| Viton | Aggressive chemicals, fuels and high heat |
| Natural rubber | Shock and vibration absorption |
| Fiber | Firm, dry gasketing on fittings |
For hose and potable-water fittings, EPDM is a common choice. For hot water, look at EPDM or silicone. Compare ranges in the material guide.

FAQ
What size washer is in a garden hose?
Garden hose couplings use a 3/4" thread, but the washer inside is larger than 3/4" across. Measure the old washer or choose from our hose washer collection.
What size rubber washer fits a 3/4" pipe?
3/4" steel or PVC pipe measures 1.050" across, so a 1-1/16" ID washer slips over it. 3/4" copper or PEX measures 7/8", so use a 7/8" ID.
What size washer fits a 3/4" bolt?
A 3/4" ID washer, typically 1-1/2" to 2" OD.
How thick should a 3/4" rubber washer be?
1/16" to 1/8" for sealing flat faces; 3/16" and up for cushioning or filling a gap.
